My understanding is no new skills in EVERY chapter for chapter spec. chars, but weapons and armor will probably be supported...

Here's a hint of the new classes from 1up:

Quote:
Minutes before the doors slammed at E3, the undefeated Last Pride PvP guild (and our 1UP ninjas) were treated to a first look at the next Guild Wars expansion. Not Factions, but the as-yet-untitled expansion to follow. We got an early peek at the new setting, creatures, and concept sketches of new professions.
Where the original game had a pseudo-medieval European environment and Factions features a more Asian setting, the new expansion will take place in a North African-themed world. The architecture and locations look inspired by Tunesia, Morocco, and the savannah, and the theme music composed for the presentation had a very Marakesh sound to it.

Among the new creatures and NPCs we saw dervish-like robed and masked desert people, a bunch of monkeys riding some kind of tusked hippo, and a giant flatworm. Yeah, we want to squash that.

There were only two sketches of the new professions shown, one being a white robed woman wielding a wicked looking double bladed staff, and an unarmed bald monk-like man, possibly a bare-knuckle combat class.

The expansion hasn't been officially announced yet, but expect something as soon as the Factions hype cools off a little. Yeah, NC is fast with these things. They have two gangs of developers tag teaming expansions. In fact, now that Factions is done that crew is already working on the fourth one. That makes them a freaking MMO machine gun.

One nice thing about Anet is that an overload of a single suggestion has proven a good predictor of future classes. Assassins and ritualists were heavily suggested mostly under ninja and druid/shape shifter threads.

The next obvious two would be a bard and a polearm class by this standard. Those would be 3-4 on the suggested list. I'd have a bards as ranger/mesmer/monk hybrids and spearsman as Warrior/monks.

Double bladed staff? Would that be one of those 2 handed weapons with 2 blades on each side of the staff that you spin around a lot? Dont know its name, but its used in the Onimusha series too. Those things are sexy.

they said not every chapter will have new classes. They didnt say chapter 3 would or would not.

I think they just need to add 1 new per expansion/chapter (whatever people want to call them) Then they can get the Rit/As up to the skill count as the core. I am finding myself only wanting to play my warrior then my necro then my monk. My ranger just sits there in hopes of getting a new pet, without losing the one we already have.
My assasin is stuck at level 12, and my ritualist hasnt even opened the storage yet (which I need to do.) I have to much to do with my other classes that I dont have time for 2 per chapter. Plus the grinding for faction....

hm..... darth maul style......
if that no weapons guy comes out, the class might have some null damage skills or a primary only -damage% kind of thing, a shaman... so we're renaming the ritualists now
here I was hoping for a place that was baised in the air, since I can do a nuckle punch with the tengu without them trying to kill me...

I've been trying to guess what a bare-fisted and bladed staff character could signify, but bard was not what I was thinking!

Maybe the bare-fisted guy is a shapeshifter? Problem is, based on this very limited info, it sounds like two melee classes - and I'm sure that's not correct.

.
just to stir the pot a bit another reviewer who saw it described the staff as having 2 *fetishes* instead of blades

EDIT

Quote:
Finally, there were images of two of the new classes. Both were women wearing silky, light-colored I Dream of Jeannie-type outfits, one carrying a staff with fetishes on it, the other wearing a veil.

going back to the topic of a new chapter every 6 months... whats the difference between paying monthly subscription fees for a huge game with huge content (tempted to replace "huge" with "better")(you know what game i'm talking about) and paying for a new chapter every 6 months? the reason i bought this game was because i don't have to pay monthly fees. Now they expect us to buy a new chapter every 6 months? boy they're really milking the cow <--us... i can tell u by the time we reach ch 4, our nipples will be hurting like hell

Well, the idea is you don't HAVE to buy the chapters to continue playing the game. However, lets assume you buy all chapters, consider the following to play:

WoW- $49 (cost of the game itself)+ $180 (12 months of subscription fees)= $229/first year + $180/years 2+ (Add $40 if you want to buy the expansion due this year)
Asheron's Call- Game- $29 + $156 (one year game play)= $185/year 1, $156/years 2+
Guild Wars: $100/year

Obviously, as you see GW is vastly cheaper than other games in the genre. I much perfer this method.

Here Here!

And, plus, how many other games have the Game Creators and "Inside People" such as the lovely Gaile Gray who congas with you? Talk to you? Answer your questions and listen to our suggestions?

Few.

Six months, nine months, 12 months.... I'm not really concerned with the amount of time between campaigns. I'm much more concerned that new campaigns are actually ready for mass gameplay when they come out. Factions lag and bugs continue to be more than a little annoying at this point in time, despite the large number of fixes offered by Anet. It was *not* production ready when it was released. I would hate to see that with future campaigns.

If Anet can get a relatively bug and lag-free product out every six months (very aggressive schedule, doesn't allow much time for testing and fixing), great. Otherwise, it would be better for everyone if they could take the attitude 'it'll be released when it's done', and not get hung up on the pre-announced 'schedule'.

I hope they have a chapter in the mists itself... just imagine... the afterlife itself is threatened! Henchies could be the gods themselves! That would so rock! To bad Factions is the last GW game I'm buying due to an unsatisfactory resolution by Gaile herself concerning the Collector's Edition fiasco. /sigh

I'll use the $100 a year I'll save to buy a PS3 in 2010! LOL

I've already decided they're going to have to do something that is threatening one of the Gods we currently know, or perhaps a previous God that was knocked down *coughformergodofdeathcough* that is wanting power again.

But, I think it's going to be more likely every 9 months to a year we get new standalones/expansions simply because they will want to perfect the previous chapter as best they can before they move on, hopefully not wanting to take on two messes in such a short time. Not that I'm saying Cantha/Chapter 3 is a mess, I just mean the bugs/lag/errors/etc.etc.

Just considering it today, I think an archipelago, instead of a continent would be a nice swing of direction. My ideas of it are these:

Two warring Professions: Perhaps there are two professions that simply are not meant to get along with one another and chosing one of these characters as a primary places you into a specific quest line. With the base six you can go either way, but with the new two classes, you have to be one or the other. This would not flow into ordinary pvp (except where the battlelines are drawn, such as in Factions).

The new classes:
(All prototypes and possibilities that I personally like the idea of. Names of classes and actual abilities can change)

+ Daemons (Search for posting by me about this class idea)
+ Spearmen (I'm sure people have posted about it or something like it before. Things such as throwing a spear could also have some appeal)
+ Pirates (I know it was a joke of an idea at first, but considering what theme I'm after, it's a great idea)

Daemon might be out since it's an idea for a caster, and the game could use more diversity in melee classes (However, not too much since there are an incredible ammount of counters to melee)

Ship Warfare:

Maybe some of us aren't crazy about the Navy and all that...but wouldn't it be great to steer one ship, toward another, your teammates firing magical cannons at the other while you steer until you all have A) sunk the other ship or B) gotten close enough to board it

This could add many possibilities to PvP. For example, the area around the Archipelago could be a 'Ship Warfare' area, where player groups in their guild funded ships, set sail to encounter other groups at sea. Could be made random selection or an 'encounter' system (where you could accept combat or pay somehow to 'get away'). Again, I don't need to go into it, but it'd be interesting and something very new to the game.

Just some ideas I had lately.

Just like Diablo , we had Ranger, then we also had Amazon. Amazon is more between Ranger and Warior.
When the Faction was in development, we were hoping to have someone like a Druid. Maybe the call will be answered this time.
But it's getting more and more like Diablo now. Does the Kurast Baazar ring a bell?
